In Gazelle, alone in New York, Yakup clings to the hope of reunion, holding onto the belief that this period of waiting is temporary. As days stretch into uncertainty, time begins to lose its structure and reality quietly fractures. Isolated in a vast city, Yakup’s inner world grows increasingly fragile, blurring the line between memory, imagination, and the present moment.
Gazelle marks the directorial debut of acclaimed
actor Nadir Sarıbacak, created with co-director Samy Pioneer, and written by Nadir Sarıbacak and Ayhan Hulagu. Drawing from lived experiences of exile and displacement, the film unfolds as an intimate psychological drama that explores separation, resilience, and the subtle erosion of the human psyche under prolonged waiting. Rather than offering resolution, Gazelle lingers in emotional states shaped by absence, revealing the fragile terrain of the human mind.
